GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This position is part of the dental and clinical education team with ultimate responsibility for 24/7 operation of the Pediatric Dental Residency. This position is responsible for delivering clinical dental services and preventive dental care in both clinic and outreach settings. This position provides preventive and diagnostic services, treatment, patient education and referral care. Participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer. 


Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Serves as the primary administrator of the NYU Langone Hospital’s AEPD Program within the respective regional area/site.

Coordinates and participates in the CODA accreditation reviews of the program and the clinical training sites, including the management and conducting of comprehensive mock site visits.

Coordinates and facilitates weekly didactic sessions including Literature Review sessions as well as sessions related to board review and research activities. Attends all didactic sessions related to curriculum, participates and engages discussion of residents.

Implements the CODA standards and NYU Langone Hospital’s AEPD program goals and objectives for resident education within their clinical training site dental departments. Screens and evaluates patient assignment to residents in order to meet program requirements and CODA Standards.

Informs the program of any changes to the clinical training sites to which residents are assigned, including long-term changes to the resident assignments, change of address of the facility, addition of new locations to which the residents are assigned, and institution-wide changes of the hosting clinical training site.

Provides residents with an orientation to the clinical training site, actively attends and participates in July onboarding of new residents. Coordinates the program related activities and scheduling of the residents. 

Attends all required meetings including AEPD Program meetings, monthly Associate Director’s meeting, on-site faculty meetings, on-site health center related admin meetings with dental director, Chief Clinical Officer, and others pertaining to residency program.

Participates in the recruitment, selection, and development of faculty and residents.

Conducts chart reviews of resident’s patient charts.

Coordinates the program related activities and scheduling of the clinical supervising faculty for providing adequate clinical supervision of the residents at the primary and affiliated clinical training sites.

Along with the Residency Coordinator conducts quarterly face-to-face meetings with each resident to identify any barriers they are encountering or additional support needed to succeed in the residency. Attends and conducts AEPD Program resident's meeting.


QUALIFICATIONS

Employed by affiliated health center and has an active NYU Langone Hospital’s Medical/Dental staff appointment.

Current Kansas Dentist License.

Completion of an accredited Pediatric Practice Residency program. 

Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry.

BLS Certification is required.

PALS Certification is required.

Valid Driver’s License as travel is a requirement.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand; possess and use good manual dexterity; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Computer work is frequent. Good lighting and comfortable temperature and good ventilation.
