Summary of Position
Responsible for the oversight and coordination of the dental plan, dental activities, day-to-day operation of oral health services and the resident program.

Population Served
Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center will provide open access, community-oriented primary care of the highest quality to all residents within our service area and surrounding counties, regardless of their ability to pay.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions in the English language. Communicate effectively. Interact in a respectful and professional manner with internal and external customers. Ability to gather and synthesize information. Must be void of any drug convictions or related charges. Able to travel to other RCCHC site. Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse populations, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds to the communities we serve.
Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited dental school
Graduation from an accredited residency program preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Certification(s)/Licensure:
Current and unencumbered license to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina
Valid DEA certificate
Board certified or Board eligible in primary specialty
Current CPR certification
Knowledge:
Previous general dentist experiences desired, but not required
Principles, practices and regulations governing clinical dentistry
Blood borne pathogen regulations and standard precautions sufficient to be able to protect self and others from infectious diseases
Radiation Safety Protection Program and how to implement the standards associated with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
Skills:
Requires a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings.
Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern dentistry as related to community health organizations.
Using diagnostic and therapeutic equipment sufficient to be able to administer care to patients.
Applying and interpreting applicable laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.
Abilities:
Ability to listen, write legibly and speak clearly
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with patients, co-workers and other medical providers and vendors
Ability to relate with people of different ethnic origins, economic status, religious affiliations or practices, and gender orientation
Ability to navigate and enter data into an electronic health record
Essential Functions
Supports the Mission, Values, and Vision of Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center.
Is accountable to ensure patient rights and ensures an environment that promotes the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients in a safe, secure environment.
Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:
Safety including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, reports and/or corrects unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
Confidentiality of all data, including patient, employee and operations data.
Quality improvement and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
Supports and participates in common teamwork:
Cooperates and works together with all care team members, plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgement.
Remains calm and poise in urgent or stressful situations.
Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, care team members or patients regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
Promotes positive public relations with patients, visitors and the community.
Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene.

Provides dental services to Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center patients, which may include hygiene, radiology, etc.
Oversees all dental services scheduling and related patient services.
Directs supervision of Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants.
Follows QI plan.
Services on relevant national and/or local boards and committees as needed
Enters data accurately and timely into an electronic health record.
Strictly adheres to all Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center, HIPAA, HRSA, State, Federal and accreditation agency rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
