General Job Description
A Certified Dental Assistant at the Healthy Community Health Center is a vital part of providing patient-centered healthcare that is accessible and affordable for all. The Certified Dental Assistant at HCHC is part of a friendly and energetic team of professionals who support our Dental department in achieving improved quality of care outcomes and patient volume benchmarks in a fast-paced environment.
When you join our dental team you will provide a safe patient care environment that supports the dental services that we provide. The Certified Dental Assistant requires comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry. The Certified Dental Assistant should have accurate and correct grammar when dental charting, performing documentation of progress notes, procedures, or additional conversations/information that has been discussed with the patient. The Dental Assistant must be cognizant of the expectations and concerns of the patients and be able to respond in an empathetic and professional manner.
Our team demonstrates successful professional dental practices, patient care coordination, ethical accountability, and the preservation of patient and staff confidentiality.
Within this role, it is critical that the Dental Assistant be able to work with people from a wide diversity of social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. The Dental Assistant must be able to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal results for the Center's patient from a system of integrated primary health care.
Full-time Certified Dental Assistants at HCHC enjoy:
Daylight schedule, Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 6:00 pm

Essential functions of the job include:
Knowledge of modern dental materials, their storage, handling and applications
Basic knowledge of ADA CDT codes
Proper setup and preparation of the operatory and patient for dental examinations and/or treatment
Assist the Dental Hygienist and Dentists during dental procedures
Conducting postoperative and post-treatment procedures as instructed by the Dentist.
Accurate dental charting and documentation
Proper and accurate technique acquiring x-rays
Responsible for sterilization, proper infection control measures, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies
Help with Dental Front Office duties
This position is authorized to work in any location recognized as within the scope of the HCHC by HRSA.
Requirements
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting
Current CPR(BLS)
X-ray certification
Effective oral and written communication skills in English
Handle multiple tasks concurrently
Possess good interpersonal skills
Be able to work effectively with patients and health center staff
Preferred:
Fluency in Spanish
