Survey of School-Based Oral Health Programs Operated by Health Centers: Descriptive Findings
This paper, published in July 2014, presents the results of a national online survey of Health Centers that NNOHA conducted in June 2013 to obtain information about school-based oral health programs located in SBHCs and operated by Health Centers. The paper also presents results from two follow-up focus groups held in August 2013. NNOHA hopes the information provided will inform efforts to enhance or expand existing school-based oral health programs and help those wishing to establish new programs—ultimately improving access to oral health services and thereby oral health and overall health outcomes for the populations we serve.

Webinar: Survey of School-Based Oral Health Programs Operated by Health Centers
Many Health Centers provide clinical services, including dental care, in school-based settings. Very little is known about the characteristics of these dental programs. This presentation described findings from a NNOHA national survey of Health Center run school-based dental clinics. Based on survey data and focus group discussions, information was presented on program size, delivery models, services provided and finances. Operational best practices from successful programs were also shared. The implications of these findings for the future were discussed as the next few years will see a significant expansion of health care services provided in schools.
