Oral Health Care During Pregnancy: A National Consensus Statement

This publication, developed by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center (2012), presents a consensus statement that resulted from an expert workgroup meeting convened by the Health Resources and Services Administration in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Dental Association held on October 18, 2011, in Washington, DC. The consensus statement provides guidance on oral health care for pregnant women for both prenatal care health professionals and oral health professionals, pharmacological considerations for pregnant women, and guidance for health professionals to share with pregnant women.

Smiles for Life

Developed by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group on Oral Health, the Smiles for Life curriculum is designed to enhance the role of primary care clinicians in the promotion of oral health for all age groups through the development and dissemination of high-quality educational resources.

The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives

The campaign is a partnership of 36 organizations working with the Ad Council to raise awareness among parents and families about the importance of caring for children’s teeth.

WIC Dental Days of San Luis Obispo County

This promising practice, WIC Dental Days of San Luis Obispo County, is an Early Childhood Caries prevention program focusing on improving the pivotal socio-ecological factors responsible for the development of ECC by increasing risk assessment, parental counseling, behavior modification and goal setting, preventive dental services and case management.
